Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Airforce for their vital role in combating insurgency and terrorism within the country. He conveyed this commendation during a visit by Air Vice Marshal Eko Effiom, the Air Officer Commanding of Special Operations Command, Nigerian Airforce, and a delegation of Air Officers to the Government House in Asaba.
Governor Oborevwori specifically praised the AOC for his distinguished career and acknowledged the accolades he had earned over the years. He also recognized the instrumental role the AOC played in achieving successes in the battle against insurgency in the North East. The Governor affirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to peace and security across the state through the implementation of the M.O.R.E Agenda.
He stated, “I commend you for an outstanding career you have had in the Nigerian Airforce… It gives me delight that you have been instrumental to the successes we have achieved in the war against terrorism in the North-East.”
Governor Oborevwori highlighted the Nigerian Airforce’s remarkable performance in various theatres where they have confronted terrorists, bandits, and other instigators of violence. He also acknowledged the exceptional cooperation and support his administration has received from security agencies in Delta State.
In addressing the strides made in security, he noted, “We have not heard of any serious security issue in the last few months; there is no way you can eradicate crime completely but the major ones have been curbed.”
Air Vice Marshal Effiom expressed gratitude for the support extended to the Nigerian Airforce unit in the state. He assured that the Airforce would continue to collaborate with the state in addressing security concerns.
He stated, “From what I have seen, it is not too much of a problem and that attests to the level of leadership here in the state… The unit here is doing very well.”
Overall, the meeting highlighted the strong partnership between Delta State and the Nigerian Airforce in ensuring the security and well-being of the state’s residents.
